future sommelier ; wino in the meantime; WINE WEDNESDAY

This is not a wine blog so I won't go on about the history of wine but I will say that it is a celebratory beverage for a reason.  Its out there; a booming business and massively produced so lets take advantage.
I've had an interest in wine for quite some time.  In the past couple of months I've been to a few seminars and workshops which made my interest blossom.  It's not really common for the urban gal to be a wine connoisseur so I thought I'd bring this interest to light because we do and should drink more than Moscato, Moet and whatever else are in popular songs.  So Wednesday will be dedicated to wine commonly known as: WINE WEDNESDAY.  I will share a few tips, wine and notes from my wine of the week.  Don't worry it will be VERY basic but hopefully it will get more complex as my knowledge expands.  Wine tasting was pretty fun.  I made my boyfriend be my wine buddy and I think he enjoyed (maybe not) but it was a quick and cute conversation piece.

Varietal: Zinfandel (white)
Vintage: 2008
Region: California
Producer: Fetzer
Alcohol: boooo not on the label
**contains sulfites which is bad for us asthmatics**

I used to think that White Zinfandel was a simple and cheap wine, but my wine guru says that Zinfandel  is quite renowned so I picked it up to review for this weeks Wine Wednesday.
Here are my notes:

Colorblush rose to coral very soft orange
Thickness: thin
Nosecherry strawberry and a hint of blackberry
Length: short
Its a bit of a lively and slightly sweet with a medium body.  Its a common wine to wet your whistle if you need a quick fix but not a special occasion wine.

Maybe in later posts I will elaborate on how to describe our wines... Stay tuned

  1. Nice!!! I have never tried the Fetzer variety but I'll grab a bottle to see how it wets my whistle. :-)
