The Urban LAgance 6-Month Fitness Challenge

People are ditching their obsolete gym memberships and heading to new and more interactive fitness options. So, I thought it would be befitting to have an Urban LAgance 6-Month Fitness Challenge.  The challenge is to find new, fun and fiscally friendly work out options is LA.  By looking on groupon, living social or word of mouth etc, I have found the below places.  Most fitness facilities have introductory classes for the first month which works out great for the challenge.  I plan to go to them all and choose the best according to:  intensity, price and convenience.  Now that I have blogged about it I HAVE TO stick to you.  Join me will ya

I started April 18th so October 18th I will have a full review.  Please send me suggestions and recommendations.

The first month April/May I’m taking Bikram Yoga of Hermosa Beach.
This is by far the most challenging and beneficial work out!  I was lucky enough to snag a groupon special for unlimited month at $30!!!  This is an intense regimen consisting of a 90 minute yoga session in a 105 degree room.  Sweating out toxins and burning 500+ calories easy…check it out if you get the opportunity

518 Pier Avenue
Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

Next month May/June I will try African Dance or maybe hip hop at:
3625 Hayden Avenue,
Culver City, CA 90232

June/July will be committed to Y.A.S they have a couple of locations.  The one downtown (on 8th and Hope) is seconds from my place so I looked it up.  Turns out YAS stands for Yoga and Spinning, an athletic spin (no pun intended) on yoga works outs.  Thirty minutes of spinning for cardio and 30 minutes of yoga for lean muscle toning.  Sounds good to me, and the place is always packed!

Los Angeles, CA 90017

My fellow blogging buddy Honee Dee hipped me to sweat Pilates in Culver City.  July/August will be committed to boxing.  !  A guaranteed cardio have you seen boxers bods.

Pole Dance Allure, it’s an oldie but goodie.  I’ve been plenty of times, and besides the pole parties they often host, this is a great work out.  Self-taught owner Nicole Williams’ body is an inspiration to get motivate for these classes. They offer pole classes, pole parties, personal training. 10 Dance Poles, no sharing. All Classes $15-$25.

Honorable mentions to Sexy Fit (previously called Stiletto Fit in earlier post) Classes at Evolve Studios where I will be going monthly as well.

Although these are studios and classes lets not discredit the many FREE locations around LA where you can find groups of Angelinos getting their workout on:

Hawthorne Community Center with a variety of classes from Zumba to Aqua Aerobics
check out their schedule here

Also

The infamous Runyon Canyon

The popular Culver City Stairs

Sand Dunes of Manhattan Beach

HOWEVER:

Manhattan Beach's Sand Dune Park reopened one year after it was closed because of concerns about erosion and complaints from residents about noise, litter and traffic. Now, to climb the 300-foot sand dune, users will need to book a reservation and pay a $3.50 fee. Reservations are for one hour. Only 20 people are allowed on the dune at any time.

Happy work out!

  3. Soccer cleats, for instance, are intended to keep your feet and your center of gravity low for added stability. They do not need a midsole and the more expensive cleats are crafted out of supple leather that could flex and not stretch. Soccer cleats also don’t include toe cleats, though they do have enhanced stitching along the front which permits better control over the ball.
